Woah, this an update in a long long time! Sorry about the delay guys. I had been kinda busy, but I assure you that this blog isn't dead! (or at least for now) hehehe
Went for a visit at the hospital a couple of days ago. I've been doing this for a while already because it's part of a course i'm taking this sem. It's nothing much actually, I usually just go in and observe what the health practitioners do what they do.
So today, i was scheduled to watch an arthritis surgery. What a suprise! the doctor asked if I wanna SCRUBBED IN? in other words, he asked if I wanna get some hands-on experience? i was kinda surprised because i've never done it before, but I agreed to it anyway.
So, I was told to follow a nurse, and she taught me how to scrub my hands with all the different soaps and brushes and scrubs! ohmygod! I wanted tell her to please calm down with all that. But anyway, she said scrub scrub scrub. And I did as i was told. I scrub scrub scrub. for what seems like a million times. and she finally gave me the green light to stop and go on in the surgical room. yay!
I think for the first 5 minutes, i was told by everyone not to touch anything anytime anywhere. crap. so what am i supposed to DO? the nurse came over and dressed me up the way they did to the doc. they put on a surgical gown and gloves on me. it was a nice feeling when someone dressed you up like that. Oh and i understood..they meant don't touch nothing till you are fully sterilized like that. ahhh...so I see. Off we go! i was excited.
I sat down with the doc who was talking to the nurses, and he started cutting into the patient's hand! *heartbEATS* He positioned a couple of tools on the patient and told me to hold em in place. so i did. He started to cut into more stuff and was trying to explain to me about the hands and some other things...that I didn't fully understood. anyway, I didn't wanna be a rude kid, so I listened and tried to make sense of what he's saying la. XD then GUESS WHAT? After 10 mins, both my hands started becoming numb. And then everything's just gotten worse from there. I felt like I couldn't really breathe, then i became dizzy. then I felt the need to PUKE! ohman! can't believe this was happening to me! I never thought of myself as so weaaak!
Anyway, i don't really wanna puke into the patient's hand, so i excused myself and left to the restroom with a nurse. She was nice to walk me there, but at that point, I really wanted to tell her to "LET ME GO" and run to the restroom to release all that good stuff. hahaha
So yeah, it's unfortunate that I couldn't complete the procedure with Dr. Allison, but I truly treasure the opportunity I was given. It was a good day in a while. (:
That's all the update I have. I hope you guys are doing well. Take good care and keep in touch!
